Good morning everyone ,befor our class,I’m going to share something about basketball ,something about NBA.
As one of millions NBA fans ,I’ve been watching NBA games for about six
years ,for ,as you know ,the NBA court is really an amazing place where miracles happen cially when there is a buzzer beater taking place at the end of zhe game ,it’s absolutely the most excting point in the game. Do you
know how popular the NBA is in China? Look at these pictures , celebrities from different fields are watching the game in the stadium. And this picture reflects how popular it is among college students.
No one may have never heared something about Kobe ,lenbron James ,jaordan, but I believe not everyone know the origin of basketball.
s Naismith, a Canadian who was teaching at Springfield College in Massachusetts needed to come up with a game to entertain the school’s rugby and football players during the winter months.
So he grabbed a peach basket he found in the janitor’s closet of the school and hung it on a railing about ten feet from the floor.
Every time the players made a shot though, they had to take down the basket and grab the ball, which became really annoying. mith decided to cut a hole in the basket so the ball would go straight through without having to dig it out all the time
The sport was an instant success and the popularity of this new game quickly grew. Althoough Nasimith never saw the game develop into the spectacular game we know these days, he had the honor to witness basketball become an Olympic sport at the 1936 Games held in Berlin.
A group of team owners met on June 6, 1946, in New York to talk about a league they would name the Basketball Association of America. This meeting was the beginning of what we know today as the NBA.
NBA’s full name is National Basketball Association
And today there are 30 teams in the association in recent days the regular season has the games are very excting you have any interst , you could watch them in the morning everyday.

If the Dream is Big Enough
I used to watch her from my kitchen window, she seemed so small as she muscled her way through the crowd of boys on the playground. The school was across the street from our home and I would often watch the kids as they play edduring recess. A sea of children, and yet to me, she stood out from them all.
I remember the first day I saw her playing basketball. I watched in wonder as she ran circles around the other kids. She managed to shoot jump shots just over their heads and into the net. The boys always tried to stop her but no one could. I began to notice her at other times, basketball in hand, playing alone. She would practice dribbling and shooting over and over again, sometimes until dark.
One day I asked her why she practiced so much. She looked directly in my eyes and without a moment of hesitation she said, "I want to go to college. The only way I can go is if I get a scholarship. I like basketball. I decided that if I were good enough, I would get a scholarship. I am going to play college basketball.I want to be the best. My Daddy told me if the dream is big enough, the factsdont count."
Then she smiled and ran towards the court to recap the routine I had seen over and over again. Well, I had to give it to her—she was determined.I watched her through those junior high years and into high school. Every week, she led her varsity team to victory.
dribbling [drbl]n.
One day in her senior year, I saw her sitting in the grass, head cradled in her arms. I walked across the street and sat down in the cool grass beside her. Quietly I asked what was wrong. "Oh,nothing," came a soft reply. "I am just too short." The coach told her that at 5’5" she would probably never get to play for a top ranked team— much less offered a scholarship—so she should stop dreaming about college. She was heartbroken and I felt my own throat tighten as I sensed her disappointment. I asked her if she had talked to her dad about it yet.
She lifted her head from her hands and told me that her father said those coaches were wrong. They just did not understand the power of adream. He told her that if she really wanted to play for a good college, if she truly wanted a scholarship, that nothing could stop her except one thing — her own attitude. He told her again, "If the dream is big enough, the factsdont count."
The next year, as she and her team went to the Northern CaliforniaChampionship game, she was seen by a college recruiter. She was indeed offered a scholarship, a full ride, to a Division 1, womens basketball team. She was going to get the college education that she had dreamed of and worked toward for all those years.
Its true: If the dream is big enough, the facts dont count.

Good evening,Ladies and Gentlemen: Thank you very much for choosing to come in such a cold y my topic is about choice and process.A research shows that a man has to make 73 choices one so many choices one day, people easily get so confused and afraid of making wrong choice that they hesitate and finally miss the true part of life. In my opinion, the following part is of much more importance than the choice. There is no absolute right or wrong choice but wonderful or boring life, which the process makes the difference. Life is a box of chocolate, you never know what you will get. Forrest Gump made no decision by and for himself but he accomplished great success with his strong will in the process. The process is not the road itself but the attitudes and feelings, the caution, courage and persistance we have as we encounter new experience and unexpected obstacles. Take myself as an example,I changed my major when I became a postgraduate. After the choice, days have been harsh for me.I cannot understand the new lessons at all. For they are closely related to mathmatics which I learned nothing about before. However wuth the belief that this is the great chance for me to experience new ideas and challenge myself,I persisted. I asked for help from every channel and reorgonized my life. Gradually I could understand some parts and even found maths over,I learned to act instead of complaining. In retrospect, the choice left no trace in my mind but the happiness and bitterness of the past four months becomes an unforgetable experience in my life. NO matter what the choice is,enjoy the process. In the process, your potential will be inspired and new discoveries, improvement and progress will come to you. These are the most beautiful sceneries and only on the way can you see e make your life colorful. There is no need and I donnot want to judge whether it right or wrong for me to be here, but I congratulate to myself for I gain and enjoy this fantastic experience. So my dear friends, never worry about your choice and enjoy the process. I am sure you will get something new and intersting tonight after you chose to come here. Thank you!

i have a dream
i am happy to join with you today in what will go down in history as the greatest demonstration for freedom in the history of our nation.
five score years ago, a great american, in whose symbolic shadow we stand today, signed the emancipation proclamation. this momentous decree came as a great beacon light of hope to millions of negro slaves who had been seared in the flames of withering injustice. it came as a joyous daybreak to end the long night of their captivity.
but one hundred years later, the negro still is not free. one hundred years later, the life of the negro is still sadly crippled by the manacles of segregation and the chains of discrimination. one hundred years later, the negro lives on a lonely island of poverty in the midst of a vast ocean of material prosperity. one hundred years later, the negro is still languished in the corners of american society and finds himself an exile in his own land. and so weve come here today to dramatize a shameful condition.
in a sense weve come to our nations capital to cash a check. when the architects of our republic wrote the magnificent words of the constitution and the declaration of independence, they were signing a promissory note to which every american was to fall heir. this note was a promise that all men, yes, black men as well as white men, would be guaranteed the "unalienable rights" of "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness." it is obvious today that america has defaulted on this promissory note, insofar as her citizens of color are concerned. instead of honoring this sacred obligation, america has given the negro people a bad check, a check which has come back marked "insufficient funds."
but we refuse to believe that the bank of justice is bankrupt. we refuse to believe that there are insufficient funds in the great vaults of opportunity of this nation. and so, weve come to cash this check, a check that will give us upon demand the riches of freedom and the security of justice.
we have also come to this hallowed spot to remind america of the fierce urgency of now. this is no time to engage in the luxury of cooling off or to take the tranquilizing drug of gradualism. now is the time to make real the promises of democracy. now is the time to rise from the dark and desolate valley of segregation to the sunlit path of racial justice. now is the time to lift our nation from the quicksands of racial injustice to the solid rock of brotherhood. now is the time to make justice a reality for all of gods children.
