The Funnel Spider
Once ,there was a village filled with spiders. They called their village webville.
One day, a new spider came to webville. His name was Funnel.
“Hello, yong spider . I`m the Black Widow. Won`t you come to my web?”
“Oh ,no, thank you! I can build a web of my own.”
Funnel knew that the Black Widow wanted to eat him, so he ran away as fast as he could.
Then Funnel started to build his web.
“Hey! What are you doing?”
“I`m building a web.”
“You are building it all wrong!”
“Yes,don`t you know webs should be built up high where they will catch insects. Ha! Ha! Ha!”
Then all the other spiders came to see Funnel’s web, They all laughed ,too.
“They are right. My web is too low. It cannot catch any insects.And I am so hungry!”So,Funnel built a new web like the other spiders. “Oh,this high web did not catch any insects,either.”
“Look!Funnel’s web cannot catch insects, It is not even sticky!Ha!Ha!Ha!”
“Oh!What kind of spider are you?You cannot even build a web right!Ha!Ha!”And the rest of the spiders laughed at Funnel’s web,too.
Funnel was so sad.He quickly ran out of the village.He made a funnel web on the grass and hide inside
“Boo-hoo,Boo-hoo!Why is my web not sticky?”
Just then,an old spider walked by. He heard Funnel crying.
“Why are you crying,Funnel?”
“My web is not sticky like other webs.My web cannot catch any insects.I hate my web!”
“Oh,My!Don’t you know what kind of spider you are?You can use your funnel web to hunt insects.”
“What?But,how can I with this non-sticky web?”
“Do not compare your non-sticky web to sticky webs.Your non-sticky web is great for hunting insects.” [page]分页标题[/page]
“But,you must learn how to use your web.First,hide in the thick funnel of your web.Then,wait for an insect to
fly into the top of you web.”
“But my web cannot hold any insects.”
“Don’t worry.The insect will fall down onto your lower web.Then,you can quickly run out and kill it.”
“Hmm,I never thought about doing it that way.Ok,I will try it.”So,Funnel practiced
running quickly through the funnel.He ran back and forth.
“You have to run faster,Funnel!”
“Ok,ok.”
Finally,an insect hit the top of the web.Then,it fell down on the web below.“Oh,look!Go and get it,now.”
Funnel quickly ran out and grabbed it.
“Oh,thank you!I never knew that my funnel web could be as wanderful as this.”
“You are welcome,Funnel.Just remenber,do not compare yourself to others.And use the gifts that God has
given to you.
Then,you will be a happy and successful spider.”
漏斗蜘蛛
从前有一个住满了蜘蛛的村庄，它们叫这个村庄为网村。
一天，一只叫漏斗的新蜘蛛来到网村。
“你好，年轻的蜘蛛。我叫黑寡妇。愿意到我的网里来吗？”
“不来了，谢谢你！我会自己织一个属于我自己的网。”
漏斗知道黑寡妇想吃掉它，所以它很快跑开了。
然后漏斗开始织自己的网。
“嗨！你在干什么呢？”
“我在织网。”
