forbid ban prohibit

The doctor forbids him to smoke.

Ban atomic and nuclear weapons

The soldiers were prohibited from leaving camp after dark.

permit allow let

They don‘t permit you to smoke.

Each passenger is allowed twenty -five kilogrammes of luggage.

Let him wait.

Let , allow, permit, grant

Let‘s go into the garage and have a look at it.

She said her future husband would not let her make another film.

(此句用would not let,意思是“阻止”)

When the bull got close to him, he clumsily stepped aside to let it pass.

Then he sits and barks until someone lets him out.

The third baseman let the ball roll between his feet.

Please allow me to introduce Mr Brown to you.

Now we are not allowed to touch it.

注:let somebody do something(让某人做某事)作宾语补足语的不定式省去to,而allow somebody to do something(让某人做某事)作宾语补足语的不定式带to.allow与permit也可以用于allow(permit)somebody to do something的句子结构, 但也可以要求简单宾语或表示行为的名词作宾语。

The teacher allows too much noise in the classroom

He should have known that the police would never allow this sort of thing.

我们不允许赌博;

I think the 20 pounds are adequate for my work.
