In my opinion, the university library must not be opened to the public, for the following three reasons:
在我看来，大学图书馆是不应该向公众开放的，原因有以下三个：
First, the library’s capacity to provide services to the students is limited. If the library is opened to the public, a great many people will come here to borrow or read books. As a result, the library will soon become too crowded.
首先，图书馆为学生提供服务的能力是有限的。一旦向社会公众开放，会有很多人来到这里借书或读书，这样子会使得图书馆人满为患。
Second, some bad guys may take this chance and pretend that they want to borrow books from the library, while their real intentions are to steal things or harass the students on the campus.
其次，某些社会上的不良分子可能会趁着图书馆向社会公众开放的机会，混进大学校园里来。他们表面上是要来图书馆借书， 实质是想偷东西或者骚扰学生。
Finally, the government has already provided adequate public facilities to the people, including several large- or small-sized public libraries. There is no reason why people should go to the university library.
最后，政府原先已经为社会公众提供了充足的公共设施，包括好几个大型或小型的图书馆。大学图书馆向社会公众开放的做法是没必要的。
To sum up, the whole university will remain undisturbed if the university library is not opened to the public, which is good for both the students and the librarians.
综上所述，如果图书馆不向公众开放，大学校园里的宁静氛围就不会受到打扰，这对于学生或者图书馆工作人员都是有好处的。
